design, develop, and optimize secure, scalable biomedical research and health sciences applications that operate on very large datasets at enterprise scale; software engineering and data engineering that supports translational and biomedical research through robust, high-performance application and data platforms; serve as a technical contributor responsible for designing, independently developing, and supporting enterprise-grade healthcare and research software applications, APIs, and services; build scalable backend services that integrate with large data platforms and research systems, and as needed develop frontend applications that support researchers, analysts, and operational stakeholders; primarily designs, build, and maintain production-grade data engineering solutions that support healthcare and research use cases; develop secure, scalable ETL and ELT pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and curating large, complex datasets using modern data architectures, including medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold); leverage modern data engineering platforms such as the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to process large-scale batch and streaming workloads using Python and SQL; develop and supports solutions across cloud-based platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), Data Engineering Platforms (e.g. Databricks, Fabric) and high-performance computing (HPC) or supercomputing environments; development using infrastructure, platform, and DevOps teams to configure, deploy, and operate applications and data pipelines across hybrid computing environments; stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field; 5 years of combined professional experience in software development and data engineering. That 5 years of experience must have included all of the following: building secure, scalable software applications and data engineering pipelines in enterprise biomedical research or healthcare environments; development using one or more programming languages (such as Python, Java) and SQL, including experience processing large datasets using distributed computing frameworks; development using cloud-based platforms and familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC) or other distributed environments.
