Smartsheet is seeking an experienced sales professional to join our team as a Enterprise Account Executive. You will have a proven track record of performance in quota attainment and developing customer accounts within the Higher Education or State and Local Government sector.

This remote role will cover the SC/NC/TN region and report to a Regional Director, Enterprise EDU. This position is hiring for individuals local to Illinois and Wisconsin. You will leverage your expertise in enterprise software sales and a deep understanding of the higher education landscape to build strong relationships with key decision-makers, including CIOs, CTOs, provosts, and other senior administrators. This role requires a strategic sales approach, a consultative selling style, and the ability to navigate complex procurement processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Navigate complex Higher Education and School District procurement processes and cycles
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders at colleges and universities, including executive leadership, IT, academic, and administrative teams
  • Travel expectations are based on opportunities with key customers, with a preference for at least 1x per quarter
  • Understand and respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotes (RFQs)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with CIOs, IT Directors, Procurement Officers, and other key stakeholders
  • Apply industry knowledge and research
  • Travel onsite for executive presentations, user group presentations, and industry events
  • Tailor sales presentations and proposals to meet the specific needs of Higher Education Institutions or School Districts
  • Maintain expertise in enterprise technology solutions, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, networking, SaaS, and digital transformation
  • Execute a solution-based sales process across multiple groups within accounts with 5k-20k+ employees
  • Develop and prospect new business opportunities within existing customers by analyzing and proactively targeting high-value needs across departments
  • Leverage existing relationships to expand Smartsheet's footprint and drive revenue or growth during renewals
  • Articulate and demonstrate Smartsheet's organizational solutions and value
  • Build sales pipeline and bookings growth within your territory
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineers, Solutions Consultants, and Customer Success teams to manage the full sales cycle
  • Develop tailored proposals based on customer outcomes
  • Use sales enablement tools to identify needs and personalize solutions
  • Track key metrics to forecast sales pipeline and activity using our CRM platform
  • Manage the customer lifecycle from pre-sale to renewal

Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of full cycle sales experience in a technology-oriented field; SaaS experience preferred
  • Located in the SC/NC/TN region
  • Proven success selling into state and local governments, K-12, or higher education institutions
  • Experience with RFPs, procurement cycles, and government contracting vehicles (e.g., NASPO, GSA, DIR)
  • Experience maintaining B2B customer relationships
  • Ability to travel within the assigned region
  • Experience prospecting and managing a territory to maximize revenue
  • Research skills to uncover up-sell opportunities
  • Data-driven sales approach
  • Ability to work under pressure, self-directed, resourceful
  • Strong relationship management skills with senior management
  • CRM proficiency and familiarity with Google Suite
  • Excellent communication skills

Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000 USD, plus incentive opportunities. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and location.
