Job Summary

The Enterprise Access Solutions Architect- Medical Group is responsible for partnering with operational, clinical, digital, and technology stakeholders to identify, design, validate, and implement enterprise solutions that advance patient access across Baylor Scott & White Health.

The role serves as a strategic solution leader for enterprise access transformation, bringing deep knowledge of healthcare access operations, scheduling workflows, Epic capabilities, digital solutions, automation, and industry best practices to improve how patients identify, navigate, schedule, and receive care.

The Enterprise Access Solution Architect evaluates current-state access workflows and translates operational challenges and strategic priorities into scalable future-state solutions. Areas of focus may include scheduling optimization, digital and self-service access, guided scheduling and decision support, template and capacity management, contact center workflows, referral pathways, automation, and emerging technologies.

Working across Medical Group operations, clinical leadership, Enterprise Platforms/IS, Digital, analytics, and other enterprise partners, this role bridges access strategy, operational workflow, and technology delivery to ensure solutions are scalable, standardized, measurable, and aligned with enterprise access priorities.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Evaluates current-state patient access workflows and identifies opportunities to improve standardization, efficiency, scheduling accuracy, patient experience, provider experience, and operational performance.
• Leads solution exploration, workflow design, and future-state planning sessions with operational leaders, clinical stakeholders, Enterprise Platforms/IS, Digital, and other enterprise partners.
• Designs scalable enterprise access solutions that balance patient needs, clinical appropriateness, provider continuity, operational requirements, organizational standards, and technology capabilities.
• Knowledge of interdependencies of healthcare landscape and its influence on portfolio
• Supports the development and optimization of scheduling pathways, decision support tools, guided scheduling, self-service capabilities, and other solutions designed to connect patients with the appropriate provider, location, visit type, and level of care.
• Evaluates opportunities to leverage automation, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and existing enterprise platform capabilities to simplify workflows and improve patient access.
• Partners with and runs teams towards the identification of problems/opportunities from a Digital Innovation perspective
• Oversee or perform the development and documentation of business requirements, goals, deliverables, and specifications with customers, employees, and help staff.
• Supports testing and validation of access solutions to ensure technology configuration accurately reflects approved operational requirements, scheduling standards, and intended patient workflows.
• Collaborates with Epic analysts, technical specialists, solution architects, digital teams, analytics partners, and managed service partners to ensure access solutions are technically feasible, scalable, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Key Success Factors

• Epic certification(s) or accreditation(s), particularly within applications supporting patient access, scheduling, referrals, or ambulatory operations strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting a large, complex, multi-market healthcare system or medical group strongly preferred.
• Experience with enterprise patient access strategy, scheduling optimization, template and capacity management, contact center operations, digital scheduling, or patient navigation.
• Advanced leadership, problem solving, team building, and judgment-making skills.
• Skilled project manager with ability to articulate business needs.
• Excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills.
• Proficient computer software and database skills.
• Ability to focus and prioritize strategic targets and work in a growing and challenging environment.
• Drives long-term planning and strategic portfolio creation for improvements and strategies. Receives oversight from the Director and VP.
• Knowledge of interdependencies of healthcare landscape and its influence on portfolio.
• Establishes external relationships with other thought managers in the enterprise.
• Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the‑art technology, equipment, and systems.
