Job summary

UPMC is hiring a Medical Assistant to support Metropolitan Ear, Nose & Throat in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and may require up to 25% travel to support multiple office locations.

Applicants will be placed on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. The position emphasizes patient care, clinical operations support, and adherence to HIPAA and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Check schedules and organize patient flow; accompany patients to exam/procedure room; assist with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam; take vitals and document per provider guidelines.
• Send/receive patient records in compliance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Prepare rooms and equipment; maintain infection control; manage inventory and supplies.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist physicians with procedures; document patient information.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and scheduling; verify insurance and demographics; manage charts.
