Job summary

Rockwater Tax is seeking a motivated Enrolled Agent to join our Tax Resolution team in Carlsbad, CA. This role focuses on IRS and state tax resolution beyond routine tax prep, with hands-on training and mentorship.

You will analyze tax returns, communicate with taxpayers, and help prepare resolution submissions while supporting case management using our technology platform. Ideal candidates hold an EA license and 2+ years of tax experience, with strong communication and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• Active Enrolled Agent (EA) license is required.
• 2+ years of tax preparation, tax compliance, or tax advisory experience.
• Experience with individual and business tax returns.
• Strong understanding of federal tax concepts and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Desire to build a career in tax resolution and IRS representation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable learning new technology and systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during the resolution process.
• Partner with senior team members to develop and execute tax resolution strategies.
• Assist with onboarding and smooth transition from sales to service delivery.
• Analyze tax returns, transcripts, financial statements, and documents to support case strategy.
• Communicate with the IRS and state authorities under Power of Attorney.
• Prepare resolution submissions (Offers in Compromise, Installment Agreements, CNCs).
• Conduct research using IRS guidance and state regulations.
• Prepare client deliverables and supporting documentation.
• Utilize internal systems to manage cases efficiently.
• Collaborate with staff to maintain quality and workflow efficiency.
• Maintain an 80% utilization rate for client service and productivity.
