Arc in California is seeking an Enrichment Instructor for Sports/PE to lead engaging activities for students from elementary through high school. You will plan age-appropriate lessons, manage equipment, and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

The role requires a strong background in physical education, the ability to motivate youth, and CPR certification preferred. After-school hours and site travel are involved, with a focus on safety and student engagement.

Qualifications

• Official or unofficial transcripts confirming 48+ completed college units (60 units for high school).
• Experience in instructing/teaching, especially with elementary to high school students.
• Ability to assess and address student challenges and adapt to different learning needs.
• Schedule flexibility for after-school instruction hours.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Negative TB test and COVID-19 vaccination record.
• Live Scan background check completion.

Responsabilités

• Review curriculum and create lesson plans.
• Facilitate classroom-based lessons for ages elementary through high school.
• Maintain student engagement and redirect disruptive behavior.
• Maintain equipment and ensure cleanliness and functionality.
• Communicate with Coordinators about material needs and curriculum efficacy.
• Plan and deliver classes across sports (basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football) and mobility.
• Develop student skills and create a fun, positive learning environment.
• Provide warm-up and cool-down activities.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse abilities and experience levels.
• Prepare demonstrations to showcase skills.
• Stay current with trends relevant to student interests.
• Encourage collaboration and respect among students.
• Maintain a safe, supportive classroom and attendance records.
• Participate in staff meetings or training sessions.

MISSION OF THIS DEPARTMENT:To create transformational learning opportunities that empower youth to realize their full potential.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Enrichment Instructor for Sports/P.E. will lead engaging and age-appropriate sports and physical activity instruction for students of varying skill levels in popular sports, alternative games and mobility. The Enrichment Instructor will have a strong background in physical education and exercise science. They must possess the ability to motivate students, and have a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, safe, and energetic learning environment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Review curriculum and create lesson plansFacilitate classroom-based lessons and activities applicable to elementary through high school age rangeMaintain student engagement in course material and redirect unwanted behaviorsMaintain course equipment and see to cleanliness functionalityCommunicate regularly with Coordinators regarding course matters including material needs, site specifics and curriculum efficacyPlan and deliver classes in the basics of sports that include but are not limited to: basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football; fundamentals of flexibility, mobility and exercise;Create opportunities to for students to practice techniques and mechanics related to any given physical activity, while providing knowledge supporting itDevelop student skills that demonstrate mastery and creates a fun and positive learning environmentProvide structured warm-up and cool-down activitiesAdapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with different abilities and experience levelsPrepare demonstrations that prepare students to showcase their skillsStay current with trends that are relevant and interesting for a range of student interestsEncourage collaboration and respect among studentsMaintain a safe and supportive classroom environmentMaintain attendance records and participate in staff meetings or training sessions as neededQUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:Official / unofficial college transcripts that confirms 48+ completed college units (60 units for high school) or a passing score on an academic proficiency examExperience in instructing/teaching, especially with elementary to high school aged studentsAbility to assess and address student challengesAdaptive to communication styles, motivation needs, and different learning needsSchedule flexibility/availability pertinent to after school instruction hours based on the needs of a given course cycleExperience working with youth in diverse communitiesCPR Certification (Adult, Child, and Infant) preferredAdditional Requirements:Negative TB test result and COVID-19 vaccination recordCompletion of Live Scan background checkAvailability to work before/after school hours and some weekendsAbility to travel to assigned school sites and to the Arc officePHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
