Qualifications

• Dual certification in ESL or ENL, bilingual extension, or TESOL preferred.
• Evidence of developing lesson plans aligned with New York State Common Core Standards.
• Ability to identify students’ challenges and implement timely remediation plans.
• Relentless drive to improve the minds, characters, and lives of students.
• Willingness to accept feedback from school leaders and colleagues.
• A background in education is not required for new teachers, but candidates should show a demonstrated passion for working with k-8 students; prior experience in urban communities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of testing administration under the supervision of the principal.
• ENL compliance reporting, lesson planning, individual student reports, assessment reports for Yalow board meetings.
• Presentation at monthly board meetings, as requested.
• Addressing learning needs of all ENL students.
• Continuous communication with students, families, and colleagues about student outcomes.
• Implementation of ENL curricula in alignment with Yalow’s CKLA curriculum.
• Teaching a cohort of ENL students (roughly 90% of time allotted to teaching).
• Supervision and support of a small cohort of ENL teachers.
