Job summary

The Greenery, Inc. on Hilton Head Island (SC) is seeking an Enhancement Crew Leader to guide a 2–6 person team across sod installation, planting, irrigation, lighting, and hardscape tasks.

You will use hand tools and power equipment, supervise work, and ensure safety and quality on commercial properties. Responsibilities include training, coordinating with supervisors, coordinating materials, blueprints reading, and maintaining schedules.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe operation of landscape and maintenance equipment.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Ability to read blueprints and other instructions in English.
• Knowledge of plant material and horticultural practices.
• Works well in a crew/team environment.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor crew members to promote skill development and safety.
• Coordinate with supervisor on scheduled jobs.
• Ensure proper materials are gathered/prepared and loaded for the day’s task.
• Direct, assist, transport, & supervise your team during landscape installations and related work.
• Assist with maintenance of seasonal services and minor equipment repairs.
• Read and convey information from blueprints.
• Ensure safety of crew and equipment operation.
• Maintain efficiency and client standards.
• Conduct site inspections and provide guidance on soil, planting, watering, and insect control.
• Maintain schedules and review charts and reports.
• Landscape and plant material installation, bed design and prep, pruning and shearing.
• Perform standard landscape maintenance tasks (mowing, mulching, pruning, cleanup).
• Any other duties assigned.

Job Summary

The Enhancement Crew Leader is responsible for leading a team of 2-6 people performing a wide range of landscaping duties to enhance and maintain commercial properties. This includes sod installation, planting, pruning, irrigation, hardscape installation, and other property enhancement tasks. The role requires the use of hand tools, power equipment, and occasional light construction duties. This role reports directly to the Enhancement Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Train and mentor crew members to promote skill development and team performance with a strong emphasis on safety
• Coordinate with supervisor on scheduled jobs
• Ensure proper materials are gathered/prepared and loaded for the day’s task
• Direct, assist, transport, & supervise your team during activities that may include installation of lawns & flower beds, installation of landscape lighting, cleaning up work sites, installation of water features, installation of masonry stone & pavers, installation of retaining walls
• Assist with maintenance of seasonal services as needed, perform minor repairs & maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping
• Reads and conveys information from sets of blueprints
• Ensure safety of crew and equipment operation
• Efficiency and client standards are attained
• Conducting site inspections, provide hands-on leadership, and provide guidance for soil, planting, watering, and insect control
• Maintains schedules, and reviews charts and reports
• Landscape and plant material installation, flowerbed cultivation, flowerbed design layout and prep, tree and shrub pruning and shearing
• Standard landscape maintenance techniques required for mowing, trimming, mulching, pruning and clean-up
• Any other duties assigned

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of safe operation of landscape and maintenance equipment
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Education and Experience

• HS Diploma or equivalent
• 1-year of commercial landscape and install experience preferred
• 1-year (minimum) experience managing 2+ person crew

Physical Requirements

• Outdoor work environment in varying weather conditions.
• May require lifting up to 50 lbs and working with tools or machinery.
• Exposure to machinery, dirt, and dust
• May require occasional overtime, including weekends
• May require travel to outside locations and overnight stays
