Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking Engravers to interpret designs and operate engraving machines on metal and plastic.

You will set up laser and rotary engravers, adjust speed and depth to meet specifications, and verify output against quality standards.

The Role

Engravers are responsible for interpreting design instructions and executing them with precision on metal and plastic.

Setting up and operating engraving machines, including laser and rotary engravers.

Adjusting machine settings for speed, depth, and precision to meet design specifications.

Ensuring engraved items are free from defects and meet quality standards.

Must Have

The ability to lift 40 lbs on daily basis

Ability to work any shift

Nice to Have

• Experience engraving metal parts with a CNC router type engraver, knowledge of various engraving techniques and materials
• Strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination
• Ability to interpret complex designs and specifications
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication
• Familiarity with CAD software and design principles is often preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is a plus; formal training in engraving or a related field is advantageous
