HII Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking an Engraver to interpret designs and operate laser and rotary engraving equipment on metal and plastic parts. You will adjust machine settings to meet precise specifications and ensure finished items are defect-free and meet quality standards.

Must be able to lift 40 lbs daily and work across multiple shifts. CAD software familiarity and basic record-keeping skills are valued, and prior engraving experience is a plus.

The Role

Engravers are responsible for interpreting design instructions and executing them with precision on metal and plastic. Setting up and operating engraving machines, including laser and rotary engravers. Adjusting machine settings for speed, depth, and precision to meet design specifications. Ensuring engraved items are free from defects and meet quality standards.

The ability to lift 40 lbs on daily basis

Nice to Have

• Experience engraving metal parts with a CNC router type engraver, knowledge of various engraving techniques and materials
• Strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination
• Ability to interpret complex designs and specifications
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication
• Familiarity with CAD software and design principles is often preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is a plus; formal training in engraving or a related field is advantageous
