Position Details
- Location: Kibeta English Medium Primary School (KEMPS), near Bukoba, Tanzania.
- This is a Shared Placement Personnel position with the Metropolitan New York Synod.

Responsibilities
- Teach English, grammar, and reading; monitor monthly tests and exams.
- Collaborate with local teachers on teaching methodologies.
- Create a monthly virtual newsletter for ELCA congregations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Education required; teaching certificate preferred.
- Experience in classroom teaching preferred.
- Willingness to share pedagogy and adapt to different cultural standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and flexibility.
- Commitment to Christian faith and the mission of the church.
- Good physical and emotional health, sense of humor, and adaptability.
Terms and Conditions
- Full-time Shared Personnel Placement with ELCA and the Metro NY Synod.
- Includes stipend, health insurance, Social Security, and travel allowance.
- Includes a short Kiswahili language course; orientation in the US and Tanzania.
- Two-year commitment with potential renewal.
- Position governed by a Letter of Agreement.
Physical and Psychological Requirements
Regular talking, hearing, using hands for computer/phone, sitting for long periods, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations available. Psychological evaluation required.
