Job Description / Essential Elements:
- Brief Description of Position: Develops and presents lessons, evaluates student progress, maintains classroom control, assists in curriculum development, and supervises co-curricular activities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lessons aligned with district curriculum, ensuring clear performance objectives.
- Evaluate student progress based on achievement of objectives.
- Use diverse instructional techniques suitable for the course and students.
- Maintain a positive learning environment and proper classroom control.
- Demonstrate punctuality and keep accurate records of attendance and progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Stay current in subject area and continually improve instructional methods.
- Periodically evaluate the taught subjects and adhere to district policies.
- Participate in departmental and district meetings.
- Supervise the proper use of equipment and ensure student safety.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Treat students with courtesy and respect, supporting their social, emotional, and academic needs.
- Support and supervise co-curricular activities.
- Share ideas and techniques with staff and participate in professional development.
- Maintain knowledge of instructional materials and community resources.
- Work cooperatively with district coordinators and stay informed about community and district developments.
- Participate in school and community organizations, promoting community responsibility among students.
- Inform the community about school services and opportunities.
- Act in loco parentis, complying with legal and district regulations.
Supervision:
- Supervised by the Principal.
- Supervision over classified personnel assigned to classes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Appropriate secondary teaching credential.
- Minimum college degree satisfying credential requirements.
Evaluation:
- Conducted semi-annually for first-year teachers, annually for probationary teachers, and bi-annually for permanent teachers.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Complete online application, possess appropriate single subject credential, submit transcripts, CBEST, letter of introduction, resume, and letters of recommendation. Bilingual candidates are preferred. Newly hired members will receive credit for relevant prior verified contractual experience.
