Position: English Teacher
Location: William Tennet High School

Salary: $52,968 to $81,664 (Rates reflect 2025/26 school year)

Position Purpose: Under the supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing; foster communication skills; develop an understanding and appreciation of literature; motivate students to read a variety of publications; and promote skills in English reading, grammar, and syntax.

Essential Functions:

1. Develops and administers English curriculum aligned with district goals.
2. Creates a safe, conducive classroom environment for instruction and student learning.
3. Prepares lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into engaging learning experiences.
4. Teaches English grammar, syntax, composition, vocabulary, creative writing, and communication skills.
5. Facilitates critical analysis through discussions on diverse reading materials.
6. Prepares students for literary publications and contests.
7. Conducts ongoing assessments and adapts instruction to meet individual needs, including students with special needs.
8. Aligns curriculum with district and state standardized tests to maximize student achievement.
9. Engages in professional development activities.
10. Maintains accurate records of student progress and communicates effectively with parents.
11. Ensures student conduct aligns with school policies and standards.
12. Collaborates with colleagues and participates in faculty activities.
13. Requisitions instructional materials and maintains inventory.

Additional Duties:

Performs other tasks as assigned by the Principal and administrators.

Qualifications:
