Position Purpose
The middle school English instructor works under the supervision of the Academic Dean and is responsible for meeting all scheduled classes and providing instruction in accordance with CEC's academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.
Job Duties
- Upholds CEC's beliefs as found on the CEC website.
- Develops and administers English education curriculum consistent with CEC's academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.
- Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities to enhance learning and demonstrate the application of coursework to everyday life.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods accordingly.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student and small group learning by ensuring student conduct conforms with CEC's Student and Family Handbook and policies.
- Ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate recordkeeping, grading, and reporting.
- Selects and requisitions textbooks, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; maintains inventory records.
- Collaborates with other staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and stay informed of current developments in education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution applicable to the teaching assignment, OR
- Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license, OR
- 36 semester credit hours in the core subject area, OR
- Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently ETS Praxis Series).
