Description

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: The C5 + ONE (Opening Networks through English) Resource Teacher will collaborate with a team of Resource and Lead Teachers to support English for special purposes (economic development) for young professionals across Central Asia. The role reports to the Program Director based in Almaty and involves supporting five Lead Teachers in training and mentoring classroom teachers to deliver specialized English programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor English for special purposes instructors in collaboration with local Lead Teachers, both in person and remotely.
  • Lead curriculum design, develop teaching and learning materials, and adapt lesson plans during program implementation.
  • Support content development and integration of economic development components into the English program.
  • Facilitate networking events, workshops, and conferences regionally and nationally, including agenda setting, moderating sessions, and engaging external experts.
  • Conduct professional development activities such as webinars, workshops, demo lessons, and co-teaching practices for instructors.
  • Promote U.S. culture and values through classroom visits and extracurricular activities.
  • Represent the program and American Councils in engagements with the U.S. Embassy, local employers, government officials, and U.S. companies involved in economic development in Central Asia.
  • Travel across the region as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Master's, Ph.D., or equivalent in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English for specific purposes, Curriculum Development, or related fields.
  • At least five years of teaching experience in TESOL or related areas.
  • Experience in conducting teacher professional development and curriculum development.
  • Commitment to the English language teaching field.
  • Experience in Central Asian region preferred.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Native English speaker with significant experience in American educational settings.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
