Job summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a Bilingual Education Resource Specialist to accelerate English language acquisition in Math, ELA, Science and Social Studies for Multilingual Learner students district-wide.

Responsibilities include collaborating with teachers, forming student groups by proficiency, and supporting acculturation while maintaining student records and data-driven progress. Perfect for professionals experienced with multilingual families and WIDA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Proficient in Swahili and English.
• Written and verbal proficiency in English.
• Experience with multilingual learners and families.
• Knowledge of WIDA standards and proficiency levels.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and principals to create small groups based on English proficiency levels and provide targeted supplemental curriculum-based pull-out support services.
• Form relationships with students, families and teachers to create safe spaces for growth.
• Consult with teachers around intercultural communication to ensure inclusive protocols and processes.
• Facilitate a learning environment that fosters successful language proficiency and acculturation processes.
• Maintain accurate student records for communication purposes to provide wrap around support and monitor data for needs and growth.
• Work collaboratively with school staff to provide opportunities that support cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and communication development needs of participants.
• Be knowledgeable of a variety of instructional practices and work with individual students to identify necessary services to promote success.
• Maintain professional and clear communications amongst all staff involved in education of students on caseload.
• Utilize Ellevation and Synergy to manage student information.
• Report to Director of Special Populations.
• Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission.
