Job summary

The Lansing School District is seeking a 6-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher to serve multilingual learners across its PreK-12 system in Lansing, MI. Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with High School ESL endorsement.
• Successful teaching experience with Multilingual Learners.
• Ability to support and promote English language instruction.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with administrators, teachers, families.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
• Maintain professional conduct and work ethics, including attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ESL/ELD instruction to Multilingual Learner students by language proficiency levels.
• Align supplementary curriculum to WIDA standards and pedagogy.
• Use data to guide and differentiate instruction.
• Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for evaluation and progress monitoring.
• Collaborate with designated staff to welcome new MLs.
• Work with administrators, counselors, and teachers to support ML students' development.
• Foster a learning environment that supports language proficiency and acculturation.
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development.
• Perform other duties to support the district mission.
