Job summary

Michigan International Prep School seeks an innovative English Language Teacher to support multilingual learners. You will deliver targeted ELD instruction, administer WIDA screenings, and collaborate with general education staff to align goals.

You will help monitor progress, maintain compliance records, and communicate clearly with families. A strong ESL endorsement and teamwork spirit are essential.

Qualifications

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with K-12 English as a Second Language (NS) or Bilingual (Y_) endorsement.
  • Proven experience providing targeted K-12 English Language Development instruction aligned with MDE and WIDA standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once in an effective manner.
  • Expertise using assessment data to drive specialized language instruction and program placement.
  • Works well with a team.
  • Very strong customer service skills and strong communicator.
  • Maintain a positive “can do” attitude.
  • Face challenges with the focus on creating a better educational model for our students.
  • Be a self-starter and an independent thinker.
  • Technological skills, computer knowledge and ability to rapidly adapt to new technology (Chrome, Google, and etc.).
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct individual and small-group K-12 English Language Development instruction (push-in, pull-out, or virtual).
  • Administer the WIDA Screener to newly enrolled students identified via the Home Language Survey to determine eligibility.
  • Coordinate and administer annual WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessments in compliance with MDE testing timelines.
  • Track, evaluate, and monitor the academic and linguistic progress of former EL students during their required 4-year post-exit monitoring window.
  • Maintain accurate state-required compliance records, including individual language plans and data reporting.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to scaffold content, implement accommodations, and align learning goals.
  • Participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams to support multilingual learners needing additional academic or behavioral interventions.
  • Serve as a bridge between the school and families, providing clear communication regarding language services and student progress.
  • To be informed of all policies and procedures
  • A pleasant personality and positive attitude toward working with administration, staff, and community members. Evidence of ability to establish working relationships that result in increased efficiency and effectiveness
  • Carry out other duties and obligations that are determined to facilitate the school’s mission, goals, standards, and Education Program
  • Teacher must honor written Board Policies and Administrative Regulations
  • Teacher must be able to stand for a minimum of 30 minutes at a time
  • Teacher must be able to lift 25lbs
  • Teacher must be able to sit in chair for long intervals

The annual pay range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $50,000-$55,000.

Position Description

Reimagine Education, LLC is seeking an innovative English Language Teacher who will play a critical role in the Michigan International Prep School. This position has primary responsibilities of providing evaluations and services to students needing individualized support in the areas of speech and language and effectively collaborates to increase student achievement through early interventions and services targeting speech, language, and literacy. This position will report directly to the Executive Director of Special Education & Data Compliance.
