Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English or a related field from an accredited university with at least 18 graduate credits in English.
• Doctoral degree in English or related field with at least 18 graduate credits in English is preferred.
• Post-secondary teaching experience in English.
• Community college teaching experience is advantageous.
• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.
• Mandatory GTCC trainings and annual updates as required.
• Criminal history checks with acceptable results.

Responsibilities

• Teaching: develop learner centered lesson plans and employ varied strategies.
• Teaching: incorporate current technology in classroom, distance learning and lab environments.
• Teaching: create a quality learning environment for diverse students.
• Teaching: prepare and use course syllabi, materials, and instructional media.
• Teaching: assess student learning outcomes in courses and programs.
• Professional Development: maintain currency and credentials; pursue skill growth.
• Administration: maintain classrooms and labs, ensure safety and security.
• Administration: maintain student records using technology (Colleague, WebAdvisor, Moodle).
• Student Support: recruit, promote retention, and refer students to resources.
• Other: perform duties as assigned by supervisor.
