AFP seeks a dynamic editor for its English-language Americas desk, based in Washington or Los Angeles. The desk handles fast-paced breaking news and editing for a global audience, around the clock.

The editor will edit and illustrate English reports, translate from French and Spanish, and pitch original angles. They’ll work with photo, video, and graphics teams to deliver multimedia journalism at high quality.

Qualifications

• Several years of news reporting and editing experience.
• Exemplary writing skills, news judgement and ability to work under pressure.
• Working knowledge of French and Spanish is a major advantage.

Responsibilities

• Edit and illustrate stories filed by reporters in English.
• Translate stories from French and Spanish services into English.
• Report breaking news and pitch original angles; contribute to multimedia coverage.
• Coordinate with photo, video and graphics departments for multimedia output.
