Engineering Technician (Electro-Mechanical Systems)

Location: Florham Park, NJ

Contract Position

Pay Range: $44.35 - $49.35 per hour

Responsibilities:

1. Serve as a lead technician and mentor, supporting the design, assembly, and testing of prototype electro-mechanical and optical systems.
2. Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and layouts to identify interfaces and ensure proper integration.
3. Perform advanced troubleshooting at system and component levels using diagnostics and schematics.
4. Build, calibrate, adjust, and maintain equipment and systems for experimental or production purposes.
5. Conduct testing, checkout, and verification of system performance against design specifications.
6. Perform fiber optic splicing, handling, and optical cable management.
7. Execute precise optical testing and measurement procedures.
8. Travel regularly to out-of-state test facilities for off-site testing and validation.

Qualifications:

1. Associate’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent education and training.
2. Minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on technician experience.
3. U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law.
4. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
5. Proficiency in interpreting and applying detailed technical specifications, standards, and test protocols.
6. Experience with optical systems, including fiber optics and laser/light transmission devices.
7. Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and system diagnostics skills.
8. Willingness and availability for regular travel to support test site operations.
