Job summary

Siemens is seeking an Engineering Test Technician for 2nd shift at the Grand Prairie, TX site. The role requires flexibility for weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to ensure testing of low-voltage switchgear and assemblies.

You will verify readings, inspect components, and maintain records using specialized Siemens software. The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, 2+ years in electrical components, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and technical drawings.

Qualifications

  • Ability/Experience testing and fixing; strong problem solving
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
  • Associate Degree is preferred
  • 2+ years in engineering or quality functions for power distribution equipment

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining quality of high custom and sophisticated products for Electrical Products; testing and inspecting Low Voltage Switchgear and Switchboards to applicable standards (e.g. UL1558, UL891, IEEE)
  • Use multi meter and electronic theory to verify power readings and circuit design
  • Use specialized software for testing/inspecting when required (e.g. Siemens WinPM, Step 7, MicroWin, WinC Flexible, SAP)
  • Perform inspections/audits of mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Maintain and input records or reports related to testing/inspecting activities
  • Set up and operate testing equipment and tools
  • Collaborate with team to meet production schedules

The Electrical Products (EP) Business Unit offers a full range of low-voltage power distribution and control products that deliver safe, reliable, and efficient electrical solutions across residential, commercial, and industrial markets.

**We are looking for an Engineering Test Technician for 2nd shift, which must be flexible to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, to join our team! This position will be based at our Grand Prairie, TX site.**

**You’ll make a difference by:**

+ Maintaining quality of high custom and sophisticated products for Electrical Products; testing and inspecting Low Voltage Switchgear and Switchboards to applicable standards (i.e. UL1558, UL891, IEEE, etc)

+ Use multi meter and electronic theory to verify power readings and circuit design to ensure accurate wiring and operation.

+ Use Hipot, test card, hand tools and various other tools to aid in testing.

+ Use specialized software for testing/inspecting when required (i.e. Siemens WinPM, Step 7, MicroWin, WinC Flexible, SAP, etc.)

+ Perform inspections/audits of mechanical and electrical assemblies.

+ Maintain and input records or reports related to testing/inspecting activities.

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ High School Diploma/GED

+ 2+ years exposure to electrical components or knowledge of electrical components.

+ Ability/Experience testing and fixing; strong problem solving.

+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

+ Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

+ Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

+ Excellent problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic.

+ Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Associate Degree.

+ 2+ years in capacity of engineering or quality functions for power distribution equipment.

+ Knowledge of prevailing codes (UL1558, UL891, UL508).

+ Knowledge of power distribution components (breakers, relays, communication devices).
