Job summary

nVent in Anoka, MN is seeking an Engineering Test Lab Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Anoka Test Lab, supporting development and validation of cooling and enclosure solutions for critical infrastructure and data center environments.

You will lead test technicians, coordinate resources, and partner with Design Engineering and R&D to ensure timely testing, issue resolution, and alignment with product validation activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics, HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical field.
  • At least one year of direct people leadership experience with responsibility for assigning work, coordinating workloads and resources, coaching employees, and supporting team performance.
  • Experience working in an engineering test lab, product testing, or product validation environment.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical proficiency capable of understanding testing methods, analyzing issues, and guiding technicians through complex test procedures, equipment challenges, and data-driven evaluations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with technicians, engineers, and lab leadership.
  • Experience supporting HVAC, refrigeration, thermal management, cooling systems, or other sophisticated electro‑mechanical products preferred.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs. without assistance and stand or sit for extended periods to support lab activities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a group of test technicians, providing daily direction, coaching, support, and accountability across multiple testing activities.
  • Coordinate technician assignments, equipment availability, instrumentation, and lab resources to support testing priorities established by the Lab Manager and engineering teams.
  • Maintain a strong presence in the lab, helping technicians identify and resolve test setup, equipment, and product performance issues while partnering with technical experts on more complex challenges.
  • Partner with Design Engineering and R &D Test Engineers to support prototype, pre-production, product verification, product validation, agency, and performance testing activities while communicating test status, risks, and laboratory resource needs.
  • Monitor testing progress, address workflow constraints, and support efficient day-to-day laboratory operations and testing execution.
  • Support technician onboarding, training, and cross‑training efforts to build team capability and readiness for new products, technologies, and testing methods.
  • Work closely with lab leadership and maintenance partners to support equipment readiness, address downtime concerns, and improve overall lab utilization and throughput.

You will work on-site 5 days/week in Anoka, MN.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

YOU HAVE:

Pay Transparency

nVent's pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range: $62,900.00 - $116,900.00
