Job summary

TÜV Rheinland North America is seeking a qualified engineer to conduct safety analysis and risk assessments. You will contribute analysis results and reports to safety projects and lead regulatory compliance testing on diverse products.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience evaluating products under CB Scheme, UL/NRTL, CE and GS standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in technical writing.
  • Knowledge of safety hazard analysis techniques for complex systems.
  • Ability to travel; valid passport and driver’s license required.
  • Willingness to visit job sites and assess field conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Complete regulatory compliance testing and act as lead engineer on complex projects.
  • Train other test engineers and technicians.
  • Test moderate to highly complex equipment.
  • Ensure products meet IEC, EN, UL, CSA standards.
  • Prepare quotes and proposals by defining customer requirements, test strategies and selecting equipment.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Liaise with global laboratories to ensure consistency and accuracy of methods.
  • Document test results for correction actions, reports and audits.
  • Analyze test data and report deviations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Ensure analysis complies with applicable regulations and standards.

Compensation Data

The salary range for this position is $137,000-$147,000 and reflects factors such as years of experience, relevant expertise, and overall qualifications.

Job Description

Summary:

Conduct safety analysis and risk assessments. Contribute analysis results and reports to safety projects.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Complete all aspects of regulatory compliance testing, act as lead engineer on complex projects.
  • Train other test engineers and test technicians.
  • Test moderate to highly complex equipment.
  • Ensure products meet IEC, EN, UL, CSA test standards.
  • Prepare test development project quotes and proposals by assisting in defining customer technical requirements, test strategies and selecting test equipment.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.
  • Liaise with other global laboratories to ensure consistency and accuracy of methods and interpretations.
  • Document test results for correction actions, reports and audits.
  • Analyze test data and determine expected outcome for tests. Identify and report all deviations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  • Ensure that analysis is in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Education

University Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Experience & Further Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience evaluating products in accordance with CB Scheme, UL/NRTL, CE and GS regulatory standards, including experience with IEC, EN, UL, CSA for product categories MEAS, ITAV, HOUS
  • Excellent communication skills, to relay complex scientific and technical information in a clear, concise, and understandable manner, verbally and in technical writing.
  • Knowledge of safety hazard analysis techniques for complex systems.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license required.
  • Ability to safely visit job sites, mount and dismount locomotives, and survey field conditions
