Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an Engineering Technologist III to provide technical expertise and oversight in a defined area of electric distribution. The role carries leadership responsibilities with limited supervision and a path to advanced skills development.

Candidates should have a BS or higher in engineering or engineering technology (or 4+ years with an Associate), and strong communication skills. Travel 25–50% is expected; relocation assistance may be provided.

• Either 2+ years of relevant industry experience with a BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4+ years with an Associate Degree.
• Direct experience within electric distribution.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management.

• Provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and deliver leadership in a specific area with limited supervision.
• Develop advanced skills and work with a high degree of independence.
• Coordinate with diverse teams and field personnel, potentially across sites.

This is the third level of thenon-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. Engineering Technologist III provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.

• Experience in the utility industry.
• Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management.

• Some business units may require visits to field sites and/or plants

Specific Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Either 2 + years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or 4 + years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology , or 6 + years equivalent experience without a degree
• Direct experience within electric distribution.
