Basic Purpose:
This Engineering Technologist for OEM and PIA customers assists in customer support and satisfaction. Supports SEWS Quality Assurance by performing material inspections to ensure the precise quality and correctness of sorted, reworked, or repaired products. These assignments are typically under the guidance of the SEWS PIA and Resident Engineers. The role involves immediate containment actions in case of product or service concerns and requires expertise to identify root causes. The Technologist may also direct and coordinate activities of third-party companies during sorting processes and support their training and certification of parts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote and ensure adherence to standards issued by SEWS and SEWS Quality Assurance, aligning with SEWS' values, objectives, and quality benchmarks.
- Inspect and verify the quality of reworked or repaired products in the ECSC/ICSC warehouse to support zero defect flow.
- Perform first-piece verification of rework and repair accuracy.
- Ensure finished products meet inspection standards. Provide feedback to improve the accuracy of documented standards and support training for all standards and updates.
- Contribute to or prepare reports and documents communicating sorting activity results to manufacturing plants and management.
- Assess and verify the effectiveness of sorting methods and procedures, ensuring compliance with written standards.
- Assist customer relations to maintain a continuous supply of certified products and avoid shipping disruptions.
- Properly disposition non-conforming products and maintain records of such dispositions.
- Perform material sorts at customer locations as needed.
- Conduct reactive and proactive process walks at customer sites to identify potential damage areas.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Quality Assurance Management.
Qualifications:
- Ability to interpret Ford and SEWS wire harness engineering blueprints, discern details, and specify product features. Utilize specialized inspection and troubleshooting tools such as measuring tapes, calipers, magnifiers, multimeters, and wire harness pickup sets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- 5-7 years of progressive engineering experience.
- HS/GED and technical certification.
