We’re hiring Engineering Technicians | Construction Inspectors (buildings) - all experience levels!

CTL Engineering (www.ctleng.com) is an award-winning, full-service consulting engineering firm with 16 locations across OH, IN, WV, KY, VA, NC, and SC, with a rich history spanning 98 years. We provide civil/site design, land surveying, environmental, geotechnical, construction administration & inspection, accident reconstruction, roofing/building envelope, A/V system design, troubleshooting and installation, and specialized testing services to the construction industry.

We are looking for all experience levels of Engineering Technicians | Construction Inspectors to play a key role in our Building Construction Management/Quality Assurance division. Ongoing mentoring and training will be provided, based on your experience level, with opportunities for increased responsibility if that aligns with your career goals.

• High School and Tech/Trade School grads/Associate degrees with a genuine interest in vertical construction are encouraged to apply! Prior experience/exposure to vertical construction is a strong plus but not required.

Highlights:

• Project sites are typically within a 2-hour radius of Columbus.
• A company truck can be provided or you can use your personal vehicle with reimbursement.
• The typical schedule is Monday-Friday, primarily day shift (7 am - 5 pm).
  • If bad weather affects the timeline, some Saturdays may be needed to meet project schedules.
  • Night work may occur occasionally with prior notice.

Responsibilities:

• Perform construction engineering technician services involving concrete testing, rebar inspection, and other building materials for vertical construction projects for municipal and private clients.
• Test, inspect, and report on aspects of construction works, such as concrete pours, rebar placement, and soils placement.
• Inspect and sample construction materials.
• Perform computations, plot data, and draw simple curves and graphs.
• Assist Engineers during soil and materials investigations.
• Ensure tests/observations, quality control, and quality assurance are performed according to standards, specifications, and contract documents.
• Potentially perform lab testing and observation of soils, concrete, and asphalt.
• Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with specifications, plans, and proposals.
• Maintain project records and reports.
• Notify contractors or engineers of non-conforming work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of engineering, construction, testing, and inspection principles is a plus.
• Knowledge of materials and lab testing methods is a plus.
• Understanding of construction or engineering services in OH, IN, PA, WV is a plus.
• Ability to perform quality control initiatives and testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driving record.
• Ability to work in external conditions during adverse weather.
• Ability to work independently and provide status updates.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

• High School, Technical School, or Community College graduate.
• Associate Degree with 2+ years of related experience or Bachelor’s Degree or certification in a related field.

Certifications:

• ACI Grade I Concrete Testing Technician (preferred but not required)

Physical Requirements:

• Work primarily in the field, standing for extended periods.
• Ability to perform essential functions safely and effectively.
• Maintain punctual attendance.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
