Job summary

State of New Hampshire is seeking an Engineering Technician V in the Bureau of Highway Design at 7 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH. You will provide technical guidance and mentor staff while supporting highway project plans, specs, and estimates.

SUMMARY

Provides technical support for the planning, research, development, and design of highway engineering projects within the Bureau of Highway Design. Coordinates technical activities, reviews engineering plans and documents for accuracy and completeness, and provides technical guidance and training to team members in the preparation of plans, specifications, estimates, and computer-aided design and drafting (CAD/D) applications.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate's degree from a recognized college or technical institute with a major study in engineering, landscape architecture, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies, agronomy, geology, soil science or earth science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Seven years of engineering experience, two years of which shall have been at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician IV. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and access to transportation for use in statewide travel

Other Requirements: Applicant’s Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards established by the hiring agency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides technical guidance and mentors team members in the preparation and development of plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Provides training and individual instruction in technical processes, procedures, and CAD/D applications to support efficient and consistent project development.
• Monitors project activities and daily progress to support established schedules, identify issues, and coordinate timely completion of assigned work.
• Coordinates technical information and project requirements with other bureaus and with federal, state, and municipal agencies and public utilities.
• Compiles technical information and prepares reports, correspondence, records, and project documentation to support project development and maintain accurate project files.
• Reviews plans, specifications, estimates, and related technical documents for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and conformance with applicable state and federal requirements.
• Prepares and presents technical plans, details, and project information to team leaders and supervisors for review and approval.
• Conducts formal and informal training sessions and provides individual instruction in basic and advanced CAD/D applications, techniques, and procedures.
• Participates in cross-bureau work groups to identify application development needs, improve automated processes, and enhance technical workflow and efficiency.
• Performs work in accordance with applicable risk management, safety, environmental, and other state and federal standards, regulations, policies, and administrative orders.
