Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a trainee for a 3000-hour on-the-job training program, mixing field activities with office procedures in New York. The program may lead to an Assistant Team Leader role after graduation.

Immigration sponsorship is limited to TN visa eligibility, per NYSDOT program rules. The role involves traveling and working between field sites and Syracuse or Utica offices, with per diem lodging and meals and mileage reimbursed as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent required.
• 18 months of bridge experience in design, construction, inspection or related work acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications to calculate quantities and prepare sketches.
• Inspect material conditions (concrete, steel, timber) and document findings.
• Measure dimensions and verify levels for structures.
• Document hydraulic information and field observations.
• Take photographs and organize field reports.
• Input data into electronic formats and produce inspection reports.
