Job summary

The New York Department of Transportation seeks an Engineer Trainee/Assistant Engineer (Civil) to perform field surveying, real property research, and data collection for capital projects in Region 10 (Suffolk County). Candidates begin as Engineer Trainees on a 24-month traineeship leading to Assistant Engineer upon passing the FE exam. U.S. work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or proof of passing FE exam plus one year of engineering experience
• U.S. work authorization required
• For Assistant Engineer level: FE certification and qualifying engineering degree or one year of qualifying engineering experience in design and construction of infrastructure projects
• Completion of 24-month traineeship with satisfactory performance for advancement to Assistant Engineer
