Job summary

Appleton Control Systems (ACS) is seeking an Engineering Technician to assemble equipment per drawings, wire panels, and assist with shop tasks in Iron Mountain, MI. The role involves light fabrication, testing, and crate packing, with occasional on-site delivery using a company truck.

The position requires ability to work with engineers, follow instructions, and maintain a safe, organized shop environment. Training will be provided in coordination with engineers.

Qualifications

• Ability to focus and be productive with limited supervision.
• Ability to follow written and verbal direction.

Responsibilities

• Assemble equipment in accordance with drawings and engineering direction.
• Wire assembled panels per drawings and wire sizes and color codes.
• Layout backplates and enclosures per drawings; drill and cut openings as needed.
• Test and inspect equipment for proper functionality with engineering support.
• Crate and package parts for shipping.
• Light fabrication (drilling, tapping, sanding, spray painting, grinding).
• Occasionally build or repair crates for shipping.
• Move material and maintain stock of inventory.
• Read engineering drawings (mechanical, electrical) and wire lists.
• Use inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, tape measures, multimeters).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop.
• Occasionally deliver/pick up equipment using company truck (valid driver’s license).
