ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the FAA NAS ESS (Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services) contract. Join our growing team as an Engineering Technician, Level 3 in support of the FAA’s Power and Environmental System Team AJW-151 Lightning Protection, Grounding, Bonding, Surge (LPGBS) Program. The LPGBS Program minimizes electrical hazards to NAS Air Traffic Control personnel, facilities, and electronic equipment caused by lightning, voltage surges, electrostatic discharge, and power faults at across the NAS facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate taskings with LPGBS management and system stakeholders
  • Utilizing FAA and industry standards, identify system discrepancies and develop corrective action plans.
  • Review one-line and construction drawings to ensure conformance with current FAA drafting standards.
  • Coordinate, travel, and perform site surveys of NAS facilities to inspect the lightning protection system and identify and document deficiencies and provide corrective action per FAA policy standards.
  • Produce redline/as-built drawings from marked up drawings provided by the LPGBS Program.
  • Capable of creating, evaluating, and understanding detailed Statements of Work (SOW), adding missing details to drawings from information in the SOWs.
  • Capable or creating and reviewing a detailed Independent Government Cost Estimate (IGCE) utilizing RS Means from an SOW.
  • Adjust and format existing drawings to new baseline drawing sets for future projects.
  • Be able to conduct searched in the drawing archive database to find existing drawings that will provide relevant information on new projects.
  • Observe and report on LPGBS construction efforts.
  • Manage data input for assigned taskings.
  • Effectively work both independently and in a team environment for the successful achievement of goals.

Requirements:

US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. All applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years .

On-site presence will be as required by the FAA.

  • Ability to travel up to 75%
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to conduct efficient, organized data gathering, and data analysis.
  • Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts with others for the timely completion of projects and deliverables.
  • Ability to pass an FAA background investigation.
  • US Citizenship is preferred or Permanent Residency.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or similar science/technology curriculum required; OR a certificate of training in a 2-year EET program from a community college, vocational education school, military training or FAA academy may be substituted in lieu of the associate; four (4) years of experience related to the NAS may be substituted for educational requirements
  • Ten (10) plus years related experience to include electrical circuits, circuit elements, equipment, and systems.
  • Experience working in AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Experience with grounding and bonding of towers, fencing, Earth Electrode Systems, and electrical equipment is preferred.
  • Previous work experience supporting FAA programs is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA ProjectWise Data Base is preferred.
