Job summary

Teradyne, a global test and automation specialist, seeks an Engineering Technician in North Reading, MA to support development and validation within IST. You will maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment, install new systems, and ensure uptime for product development.

You will collaborate with hardware and software teams, manage spare parts, perform preventative maintenance, and drive process improvements to enhance lab efficiency and safety.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics/Mech/Engineering Tech.
• 8+ years supporting engineering lab equipment and automated test systems.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot, repair, and improve complex systems.
• Experience leading equipment installation projects across engineering, facilities and suppliers.
• Strong electrical, mechanical, pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
• Experience supporting engineering development, design validation and prototypes.
• Ability to read technical docs, schematics and manuals.
• Experience implementing preventative maintenance and managing spare parts inventories.
• Root-cause analysis and structured problem solving.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience in semiconductor/automation or automated test environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and service engineering lab equipment for development and validation.
• Manage installation and commissioning of new equipment with facilities, logistics, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Identify, procure, organize, and maintain critical onsite spare parts inventory.
• Collaborate with software and hardware teams during design validation for setup and testing.
• Determine root causes of field and factory issues and support corrective actions.
• Perform preventative maintenance per manufacturer recommendations and schedules.
• Maintain equipment records, service histories, and maintenance documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for lab efficiency, uptime, safety, and process optimization.
