Job summary

SAIC in Bedford, IN is seeking an Engineering Technician IV to support the U.S. Navy. You will build mechanical and electrical assemblies, follow engineering drawings, and collaborate in small teams under government oversight.

Responsibilities include wiring, testing electrical circuits, using hand and power tools, and documenting work. Travel ~25% for fielding activities; must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a secret clearance; a U.S. passport is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree with at least 6 years of related experience or a high school diploma with at least 8 years of related experience (military experience may substitute).
• U.S. citizen and able to obtain a secret clearance (SAIC will sponsor).
• Able to obtain J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications.
• Construction or mechanical assembly experience.
• Proficient reading of technical manuals and engineering drawings for system integration.
• Willingness to travel 25% for ECP updates and fielding/training at bases CONUS/OCONUS.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical and electrical components using hand and power tools.
• Build wire harnesses and cable assemblies with mechanical and soldered contacts.
• Wire systems to schematics and test electrical circuits.
• Use test equipment to analyze power, Ethernet, and RF cables.
• Document work cards, processes, and report to program manager.
• Integrate system components, modify systems, and test functionality.
• Implement procedures to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.
• Use technical manuals to create processes for functional testing of LRUs and assign condition codes.
