Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician Intern in Whitsett, NC to assist the engineering team on manufacturing and process-improvement projects.

This role provides hands-on experience while developing skills in troubleshooting, data analysis, documentation, and continuous improvement on the shop floor. You will work with engineers on RMA evaluations, data collection, work instruction maintenance, and root cause analyses.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in a technical field (ME, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics or related).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity and decision‑making.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
• Physical ability to stand, walk and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with manufacturing and process improvement projects.
• Perform RMA evaluations including inspection, documentation, failure analysis and corrective action support.
• Collect, organize and analyze production and quality data.
• Support development and maintenance of work instructions, setup sheets and process documents.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Assist with equipment validation, testing and troubleshooting.
• Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct time studies and workflow analyses to identify productivity gains.
• Assist with tooling, fixtures and machine improvement projects.
• Support investigations of customer complaints and internal quality issues with data gathering and observations.
• Assist in new product introductions and engineering change implementations.
• Follow all safety, quality and environmental procedures.
