Job summary

CoorsTek in the United States is seeking an Engineering Technician II. This role combines practical technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to support engineering staff and assists in departmental projects. The ideal candidate has a TCAT Degree in Machine Tool Technology, a minimum of 3 years experience, and strong CAD skills. Comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance and paid time off.

Job description

Engineering Technician II

Under limited supervision, this role requires a combination of practical technical knowledge and problem‑solving skills to support engineering staff. The technician assists in departmental projects and shares experience of operations environments to support production of technical ceramics.

Responsibilities
  • May create Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and/or routings, generating costing information for incoming or re-occurring orders through an understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • May assist in the design and ordering of production tooling.
  • Works with engineers to improve production methods and product quality; conducts root cause analysis, scrap issue investigation, and other technical research.
  • Works closely with Trade Compliance and local export/import personnel to ensure all company and customer confidential information is handled per Corporate Trade Compliance guidelines.
  • Completes continuous improvement activities through research, benchmarking, and identification of improved methods or tools to increase efficiency.
  • Assists engineers or other technical personnel in the design of processes, products, formulations, or equipment by working on projects either independently or in a team setting as required.
  • Shows eagerness to learn and apply new concepts; willing to test new machining methods, processes, tooling, fixturing, and machine platforms to improve profitability.
  • Operates CNC mills, lathes, grinders and other production equipment.
  • Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned such as forming, grinding, and kiln firing.
  • Writes CNC programs using Mastercam.
  • Works closely with sales team and customers on manufacturing issues for new products and on quoting new products.
  • Improves processes of existing products by reducing cycle time, improving tooling, reducing scrap, and optimizing fixturing and workholding devices.
  • Develops and tests new tooling, fixturing, and machining practices, and collaborates with tooling vendors on design and testing.
Education
  • TCAT Degree in Machine Tool Technology or related discipline, or a high school diploma/GED with equivalent work experience.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field.
Skills & Abilities
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, positive; works well with others with minimum supervision.
  • Strong desire to learn and apply new concepts daily.
  • CAD proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks, or willingness to learn.
  • CAM experience with Mastercam Solids Mill and Cimco CNC program editor.
  • Knowledge of Zeiss CMM’s, profilometers, and all precision measuring tools.
  • Experience with print reading and GD&T symbols.
  • Average proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to manage projects, track progress, and communicate risks and challenges.
  • Proficient use of common technology platforms and job aids.
  • Effective time management and prioritization.
