Job description

The Engineering Technician II (Corrosion) is an intermediate-level position within the Infrastructure Unit's Corrosion Engineering Team 2 located at our Weymouth Water Treatment Plant in La Verne, CA. You will assist with: performing coatings and construction materials performance testing and evaluation, performing infrastructure condition assessments and implementing relevant protection measures, and performing non-destructive testing. Some of the tasks our team handles are: performing testing, evaluation, and analysis in the areas of materials performance, selection, and metallurgy; performing calculations; reading plans, specifications, and drawings; problem solving; and prioritizing critical work. This position will require travel to field sites throughout Metropolitan's service area and occasional overnight travel.

Schedule: 44/36 Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Regular start times are no earlier than 6 am and regular end times are no later than 6 pm.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency, and two years of accredited college or university in engineering and four years of relevant experience, two years of which must have been at the Engineering Technician I level.

Relevant Experience is defined as: Coating application AND/OR testing, laboratory experience, asset AND/OR infrastructure condition assessment, non-destructive testing, ASTM testing, corrosion science, and/OR construction inspection.

Please note: Proof of two years of accredited college or university in engineering related course work will need to be provided prior to interviews.

Examples of college or university course work in Engineering include: Engineering, Engineering Technology, Science, Math, etc.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
