Job summary

Polaris Inc. is seeking a skilled mechanic/technician for hands-on development and testing of Utility SxS and ATV vehicles in Minnesota. The role focuses on chassis performance, ergonomics, and overall vehicle functionality from concept through validation and launch readiness.

You will fabricate and assemble development vehicles, coordinate field evaluations, and collaborate with engineering on calibration and issue resolution. A strong safety mindset is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanic or technician experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to operate off-road vehicles in demanding conditions.
  • Ability to operate forklifts.
  • Experience with powersports products preferred.
  • Experience using data acquisition and diagnostic tools preferred.
  • Fabrication and welding experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for product evaluation and development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fabrication and assembly of concept and development vehicles.
  • Support development, testing, and evaluation of Utility SxS and ATV products with emphasis on chassis performance, ergonomics, and vehicle functionality.
  • Organize, coordinate, and lead field development activities and product evaluations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support vehicle calibration, development testing, and issue resolution efforts.
  • Utilize data acquisition and diagnostic tools to collect vehicle performance data and support analysis activities.
  • Analyze test data and communicate findings, recommendations, and technical feedback to engineering and project teams.
  • Perform and support validation testing activities in accordance with established validation plans.
  • Provide input to improve product quality, features, performance, and cost effectiveness.
  • Support preproduction builds and quality verification testing activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare clear, detailed test reports documenting test procedures and results.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while adhering to applicable safety requirements and standards.
  • Protect confidential information related to products, testing, and development activities.

Position Overview

You will support the development, testing, and refinement of Utility Side-by-Side (SxS) and ATV vehicles, with a focus on chassis architecture, ergonomics, and overall vehicle performance. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering and validation teams to evaluate vehicle performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and help resolve product issues throughout the development process. You will contribute to concept vehicle fabrication, development testing, data collection, and preproduction activities while maintaining accurate records and test documentation. Your work will directly influence vehicle safety, quality, handling, comfort, and performance. This role offers the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on product development from concept through validation and launch readiness.

Key Responsibilities

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $23.60 to $31.25 per hour, plus eligibility for overtime. Individual pay and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.

To qualify for this position, former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
