Job summary

State of North Carolina, Department of Transportation, is seeking an Engineering Technician I (S) to support the Location & Surveys Unit in statewide surveying and data analysis for highway projects.

The role involves performing a full range of calculations, data processing, field and office work, and operating surveying equipment under supervision. Candidates should have an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to varied audiences.
• Experience performing basic math including geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of data compilation, analysis, and processing in support of surveying.
• Assist with highway route location surveys and plan sheet preparation.
• Operate survey instruments and CADD equipment; maintain safety at worksite.
