Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician I to perform electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests on current and new product designs under supervision.

You will support continuous improvement, document measurements, and assist in test equipment assembly. The role involves following testing procedures, interpreting data, and contributing to the test lab's audit readiness and 5S initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of Operations preferred.
  • Ability to lift 25–50 pounds and perform sustained computer-based tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Set up test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing procedures.
  • Perform tests on prototypes, existing, and competitor products for mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions.
  • Use mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices to collect data.
  • Interpret and document measurements such as temperature, pressure, and other scientific notations.
  • Assist in assembling and fabricating test equipment and prototype products per blueprints.
  • Prepare formal and informal test reports and maintain test-related documentation.

Conducts continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for product defects. Involved with problem identification, containment activities, action plan development and execution. Ensure that the test requirements for product testing and processes are defined and met.ResponsibilitiesSetup test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing proceduresPerform tests on prototypes, existing, and competitor products for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions through ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of OperationsUse various mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devicesAccurately interpret and document scientific notation, temperature, pressure, and other measurementsAssists in the assembly and fabrication of test equipment and prototype products per blueprint specificationsFollow guidelines for bill of materialsSupport manufacturing through troubleshooting activities; Maintain test-related documentation in, and support administration of, database environmentPrepare formal and informal test reportsAssist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programsRequirementsHigh School DiplomaPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds.
