The City of Bakersfield is seeking an entry-level civil engineering aide to support surveying, design, construction, and maintenance of Public Works and surface water and groundwater projects. Under general supervision, you will draft plats, prepare property descriptions, and develop base maps from field notes.
You will perform essential duties including creating assessments, researching ownership records, and supporting public improvement district plans.

Under general supervision, performs entrance-level professional civil engineering work in connection with surveying, designing, construction, and maintenance of Public Works projects and surface water and groundwater projects. Performs other work as required.
The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of this class. They are descriptive, not limiting.
Essential Duties:Prepares property descriptions and drafts plats for annexations, public way openings and closing; Prepares descriptions both written and graphic for property to be deeded to the City; Drafts plans for public improvement districts; Prepares estimates; Calculates individual assessments; Performs research work in checking and verifying names establishing ownerships, assessed valuation and similar projects; Develops original base maps from recorded tract maps and field survey notes, data, and field survey information.

An appraisal will be made of the applicant's experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.
