Position Description

The Engineering Technician analyzes engine and equipment performance to improve compressor station efficiency and reliability while ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations. The role supports natural gas compressor stations, including industrial gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, internal combustion engines, reciprocating compressors, and ancillary equipment. The technician collaborates with field technicians and operations specialists to troubleshoot equipment and assist in maintenance. Additionally, the technician may work with Environmental Representatives to assess engine and compressor performance and compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use and understand various test equipment, including performance analyzers, vibration analysis tools, ultrasonic leak detectors, borescopes, emissions testing equipment, greenhouse gas survey tools, thermography, etc.
  • Perform routine engine and compressor performance and maintenance analysis using Resonance Systems Lenz, Windrock, and other software.
  • Conduct periodic portable emissions testing as needed.
  • Identify, report, and help correct environmental concerns through GHG surveys and leak detection surveys.
  • Perform vibration testing and data analysis, supporting vibration mitigation efforts.
  • Test engines and compressors to establish or adjust performance and control system coefficients.
  • Provide corrective actions to resolve operational issues and collaborate with plant personnel to resolve equipment problems.
  • Monitor the reliability of mechanical systems and participate in reliability meetings.
  • Assist in failure analysis and develop standard practices and procedures.
  • Document and communicate equipment health to management.
  • Provide technical support and training on equipment operation and maintenance policies.
  • Ensure all work complies with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with start-up and commissioning of new equipment as needed.
  • Interact professionally with a variety of people, demonstrating tact, courtesy, and effective communication skills.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
