Qualifications

• Engineering Technician: An Associate or technical degree in a related field OR two years technical experience in civil engineering.
• Sr. Engineering Technician: Two-year post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering Technology or approved equal, with relevant MN/DOT certifications.
• Two of the MN/DOT Technical Certifications are required to qualify.

Responsibilities

• Conducting preliminary field surveys for road and bridge projects
• Preparing CAD based construction drawings
• Utilizing construction plans and computerized survey equipment to provide construction zone staking
• Inspecting, monitoring, and documenting construction projects
• Sampling and testing materials used to determine compliance within specifications and maintaining records
• Performing calculations to determine cost estimates and pay quantities
• Helping resolve issues among contractors, landowners, utilities and public agencies
• Conducting bridge safety inspections and maintaining records
