Job description

Cambridge International Systems, Inc. has multiple full-time Engineering Technicians opportunities available based inCharleston, SC, with an opportunity to travel to locations worldwide. DOD Secret clearance required/desired; Proof of US citizenship is contractually required due to the nature of the job.

ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Work with various schematics, drawings, technical manuals, and vendor information for electronic, mechanical, or electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of engineering projects.
  • Perform PITCO (Pre-Installation Test Check-Out), POST (Power On Self-Test) & FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to solve engineering problems.
  • Assist with the development of Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Proficient in the installation of Information Transportation Systems including equipment enclosures, conduit, basket tray, ladder racks.
    • Installation and cabling in Protective Distribution Systems (PDS) is a plus.
  • Experience with grounding/bonding and firestopping penetrations.
  • Routing of point-to-point wiring for various equipment.
  • Fabrication of Fiber Optic and Copper cable assemblies.
    • Termination of fiber optic connectors, ST, SC, and LC as well as fusion and mechanical splicing.
    • Terminating analog phone cables to lightening arresters, 66 blocks, 110 blocks, modular plugs, and jacks as well as cross connects.
  • Performing QAduties on received and completed assemblies.
  • Testing cables using Fluke DSX-5000 (or equivalent) VERSIV Cable Analyzer (Copper and Fiber Optic) and extensive use of OTDR.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of Electronic Security System devices.
  • Installation and troubleshooting of CCTV Cameras and other CCTV System devices.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • HS Diploma and 5+ years’ experience.
  • Experience using power tools.
    • Including bandsaws, circular saws, sawzalls, corded/cordless drills, SDS Plus/Max hammer drills.
  • Familiar and experienced with standard C4I System installation efforts.
  • Must be able to Red-Line various electrical and telecommunications engineering drawings.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite(Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, Vizio).
  • Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-Pin serial connector experience.
  • Outside Plant (OSP) and Confined Space experience.
  • Experience with Electronic Surveillance Systems (ESS).
    • Including but not limited to Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
  • Experience with Audio/Visual Systems (A/V) such as Thinklogical, PLANAR, Daktronics.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Active Passport.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, both CONUS and OCONUS.
  • In some occasions, overnight travel willbe required.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Cambridge International Systems complies with Temporary Duty Station (TDY)/Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) vaccination requirements. If this position requires OCONUS travel (listed above), Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil lists out applicable current vaccination requirements by location.

  • Must be able to work in an office and industrial environment.
  • Must be able to lift and move materials not to exceed the guidelines set for a one-man lift.
  • Must be able to work at above normal elevations.
    • Standard ladder heights (6’, 8’, 10’ and 12’) as well as scaffolding, boom lifts and scissor lifts.
  • Must be able to perform site visits and carry a laptop computer and other required tools.
