L3Harris Technologies is hiring an Engineering Technician B for our Culpeper, VA site. The role supports solid rocket motor propulsion development, performing tests, chemical handling, data collection, and material analysis on an advanced production program.

The position requires safety-conscious, detail-oriented teamwork with the ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance and a valid driver's license. Work is on a 2nd shift 4/10 schedule in a rural Orange County location.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 4 years manufacturing experience, or 2 years post-secondary with 0-2 years manufacturing experience.
• Experience with chemicals and chemical processing is preferred.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
• Ability to follow safety practices and PPE usage.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine tests, mix/cast chemicals and energetics, collect data, and operate equipment per procedures.
• Follow detailed work standards and safety protocols.
• Acquire skills and perform work with required specialization.
• Conduct laboratory procedures for chemical analysis with wet methods or analytical instruments.
• Perform mechanical, environmental, combustion, hazard, and propellant testing to evaluate materials.
• Apply results for quality control, failure analysis, or engineering development insights.
• Mix chemicals and energetics up to large-scale.
• Work with hand tools and assist teams on site.

Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.

The position will join an exceptional cross-functional team of engineers and technicians to fabricate components and assemble them into the most advanced solid rocket systems in the world. Aerojet-Rocketdyne is an industry leading supplier of missile components to the government for use in national defense. Supports all Orange programs development and production.

Essential Functions:

• Perform routine tests, mix/cast chemicals and energetics, collect data, and operate equipment in accordance with standard procedures.
• Demonstrate proficiency in following detailed work standards and following safety protocols.
• Demonstrate proficiency in acquiring skills and performing work with specialization as required.
• Conduct laboratory procedures for chemical analysis with wet chemical techniques or analytical instruments.
• Perform laboratory procedures including mechanical testing, environmental exposure, combustion testing, hazard testing and propellant compatibility testing to evaluate the suitability of materials for specific product or process applications.
• Apply results for quality control purposes, process or product failure analysis or other forensic purposes, contamination analysis or for the understanding of results from engineering development activities.
• Mixing chemicals and energetics up to a large scale.
• Working with hand tools.
• Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior manufacturing experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 0-2 years of prior manufacturing experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience with chemicals and chemical processing.
• Ability to work with various hand tools.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to follow safety practices and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the work team and those contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to work with management, supervisor or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Virginia (outside of Greater D.C. area) is $21.63/hr - $40.38/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
