Job summary

Lam Research in Oregon is seeking an Engineering Technician to support design, test, modification and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems and specialized test equipment. You will reference schematics and descriptions, conduct testing and fault isolation, and assist in remedies to malfunctions, ensuring precision and reliability.

You will work on cross‑functional projects across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and process engineering, with a hybrid on‑site/remote model and a focus

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with installation, maintenance, repair, testing, or troubleshooting of equipment or electronics.
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English.
  • Proficient with computer-based data systems and MS Office.
  • Ability to work a shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, check‑out, and troubleshooting using schematics, diagrams, and plans.
  • Test and troubleshoot system and component level problems in electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Inspect materials and measure circuitry with precision instruments.
  • Conduct operational tests and fault isolation to remedy malfunctions.
  • Use test & diagnostic equipment, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and test apparatus.
  • Collaborate with development engineers on prototypes and models.
  • Assist with construction of test stands and validation setups.

The group you’ll be a part of

You’ll be joining the Concept and Feasibility (C&F) team with the WETS Product Group, a highly collaborative, cross‑disciplinary organization within Lam’s Global Products Group (GPG), focused on delivering industry‑leading wet processing solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The WETS organization develops liquid‑based process equipment supporting both wafer and panel‑level applications, with strong emphasis on new product introduction (NPI), technology differentiation, and manufacturing scalability. Our teams work closely across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, systems, and process engineering—partnering globally to bring complex, high‑performance tools from concept through production while meeting aggressive cost, schedule, and quality targets.

The impact you’ll make

At Lam, as an Engineering Technician, you play a crucial role in supporting activities including design, test, modification, and assembly of electro‑mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, and specialized test equipment. Referencing schematics, diagrams, and descriptions, you conduct testing and troubleshooting. You'll perform fault isolation and assist in determining methods to remedy malfunctions. Your commitment to precision and problem-solving enhances Lam's engineering systems.

What you’ll do
  • Perform testing, check‑out, and troubleshooting using schematics, diagrams, descriptions, layouts, or defined plans.
  • Tests and troubleshoots system level and component level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and sub‑systems.
  • Inspect materials, components, or products for surface defects and measure circuitry, using electronic test equipment, precision measuring instruments, microscope, and standard procedures.
  • Conduct operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment help in determining methods to remedy malfunctions.
  • Use test and diagnostic equipment, including test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.
  • Collaborates with development engineers creating, designing, and troubleshooting prototypes and models.
  • Assist with construction of test stands and test apparatus to validate new designs and processes.
Who we’re looking for
  • 6+ years of related experience.
  • Firsthand experience with installation, maintenance, repair, testing, or troubleshooting of equipment or electronics.
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal, in English.
  • Proficient in utilizing computer‑based data systems, applications, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to work a shift schedule.
Preferred qualifications
  • Associates degree, Technical Certificate, Diploma or higher in a technical field.
  • Experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, bioengineering, metrology, lab operations, or related areas.
  • Experience in semiconductor experience is a plus.
