Role Summary
The primary function is to improve the capacity of the assembly cells by proposing corrective actions or improvements in the robot programs and assembly fixtures to ensure the quality of the products and the availability of the assembly area. Additionally, provide technical support to maintenance, production, and quality areas for resolving process issues by monitoring machine performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow Standardized Work Instructions.
- Set up, maintain, program, and integrate robot programs and assembly fixtures.
- Set up and program new jobs.
- Monitor and implement corrective actions in robot programs and assembly fixtures.
- Make improvements in robot programs and assembly fixtures to increase machine performance.
- Support the Program Management group in evaluating new work and processes.
- Assist the Production and Quality group in evaluating and improving product throughput.
- Define product cycle time, conduct time studies, and perform methods engineering analysis.
- Support troubleshooting efforts.
- Adhere to all OSHA and plant safety rules including lock-out tag-out procedures.
- Support teams in operational improvement and training.
- Develop initial Standard Work Practices with teams.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance and repairs during machine service.
- Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
- Demonstrate mechanical skills including troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Validate parts in checking fixtures.
Knowledge and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic/Mechanical Engineering, Technical, or Industrial degree or equivalent, OR a High School diploma/GED with advanced technical training in electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLCs.
- 5+ years of experience and training in a similar role and environment.
- Experience working with VW and Mercedes is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated work experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment; automotive industry experience preferred.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Full understanding of Fanuc robots programming and experience with ABB and Yaskawa.
- Ability to program robots and assembly fixtures.
- Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Clear understanding of Lean Principles & Tools.
- Ability to maintain and repair assembly fixtures.
