Qualifications

Controls Technician 2nd Shift - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1

Role Summary

Controls Technician- Press will provide support, leadership, and direction to the Maintenance Technicians and perform Controls functions for the Press Maintenance Department. The Controls Technician – Press will support and carry out assignments given by the Controls & Robotics Engineering Manager or designees, dedicating full time, skill, and attention to the company's business.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team.
  2. Support Manufacturing Engineering in developing standards, specifications, and complete purchase parts lists related to controls systems.
  3. Plan and implement improvements in the Press Shop related to controls systems.
  4. Provide technical support for controls-related issues in the Press Shop.
  5. Support the Press Shop Technical Training and Development program by conducting training, providing documentation, etc.
  6. Identify training needs for Maintenance Technicians and communicate requirements to supervisors and training departments.
  7. Lead during equipment downtime, making good technical judgments and interfacing with production supervision.
  8. Make adjustments to parts and machinery to ensure proper production.
  9. Troubleshoot robotics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  10. Supervise assembly, installation, and modifications of equipment.
  11. Train new Maintenance Technicians in equipment and safety.
  12. Establish preventative maintenance procedures based on manufacturer specifications.
  13. Maintain quality standards and preventative/predictive maintenance to ensure compliance with QS9000.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Education

  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field plus 3 years of automated manufacturing experience.
  • Associate's in Electronics Technology plus 5 years of experience.
  • 7+ years experience and training in a similar role and environment.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Strong PC and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley), Pilz Safety PLCs, A-B Servo Drives.
  • Robotic systems experience (Fanuc or ABB) is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years in robotic-PLC debugging/programming.

  • Frequent physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing stairs, talking, and hearing.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to weather conditions.
