Job summary

Viant in Wisconsin is seeking an Engineering Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems on production equipment such as injection molding presses and automation cells. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance and safe operation on a 2nd shift (3:30pm-12am) with occasional OT.

You will read complex drawings, use precision tools, and perform electrical repairs while supporting core equipment like presses, robotics, and material

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance skills.
• Proficient in Welding, electronics, air compressor, machine shop, hydraulics, and electrical maintenance.
• Must be able to follow instructions given in written, verbal or diagram form.
• Ability to prioritize activities and work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions with limited information.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain and troubleshoot injection molding machines, automation, auxiliary equipment, grinders, dryers.
• Dismantle and inspect parts, rebuild and overhaul complete machines or troublesome components.
• Service and maintain robotics, hoists, power and material handling equipment.
• Maintain and repair plant systems including HVAC, plumbing, ventilation and exhaust equipment.
• Perform electrical repairs to machines and equipment and diagnose malfunctions.
• Work from drawings, plans, sketches and layouts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all production equipment in a timely manner using precision instruments.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.

About the role:

As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. You will perform preventive maintenance on injection molding machines and support the operation of core equipment, including injection molding presses, automation and assembly work cells, material handling systems, and chiller systems, to ensure safe and efficient production.

What you’ll do:

• Repair, maintain and troubleshoot injection molding machines, automation, auxiliary equipment, grinders, dryers, etc.
• Dismantle and inspect parts, rebuild and overhaul complete machines troublesome machine components.
• Service and maintain robotics, hoists, power and miscellaneous material handling equipment.
• Maintain and repair plant systems to include plumbing, heating and air conditioning, ventilating and exhaust equipment, compressors, etc.
• Perform electrical repairs to machines and equipment. Diagnose electrical / electronic malfunctions, troubleshoot microprocessors.
• Work from complicated drawings, plans, sketches and layouts.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities on all production equipment in a timely manner. Use precision measuring instruments such as scale, calipers, dividers, level, micrometers, etc.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance skills, ability to troubleshoot and repair all production facility equipment.
• Proficient in the following trades: Welding, electronics, air compressor, machine shop, hydraulics, and electrical maintenance very desirable.
• Must be able to apply common sense, understand and carry out instructions given in written, verbal or diagram form.
• The ability to effectively prioritize activities and conduct duties with minimal supervision is important.
• The ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions where limited information exists
