Job summary

GE HealthCare is seeking an Engineering Technician at the State College site to perform testing on ultrasound probe components, including reliability, reprocessing, biocompatibility, and chemical compatibility. You will work with Engineers and Technicians to support design and development activities.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical instructions.
  • Experience with computerized work systems and documentation practices.
  • Strong communication skills in the local language.

Job description

Job Summary

At our State College site, teams design, manufacture, and service diagnostic medical ultrasound transducers (probes) used across a wide range of clinical applications including surgery, urology, cardiology, and radiology. The environment is high‑mix, low‑volume, regulated, combining advanced engineering, precision manufacturing, and lifecycle support to deliver critical imaging technology.

Role Summary

Engineering Technician will perform testing related to Reliability, Reprocessing, Biocompatibility and Chemical Compatibility for our ultrasound products, working directly with Engineers and other Technicians in product design and development.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with EHS regulations and policies.
  • Follow established written test protocols and document details of testing, using Good Documentation Practice.
  • Ensure the creation of accurate, complete and timely records.
  • Operate laboratory test and processing equipment such as reprocessing systems, ovens, cameras, microscopes, robots, scales, vacuum pumps, and other inspection equipment.
  • Utilize standard medical industry cleaning, disinfection and sterilization techniques for ultrasound probes.
  • Perform other tasks supporting new product development, design improvement, sustaining and maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
  • Awarded an Associates Degree, or High School Diploma and at least 2 years technical, manufacturing, or quality experience.
  • Proficiency in understanding and interpreting basic written technical information and instructions.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using computerized work systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate using the local language.
  • Proven ability to work well with general direction and information.
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently and be self‑motivated.
  • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this role.
  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
